Naturally TICA Show - Alexandrite Akiro, another super show!

Last weekend was another show for Alexandrite Akiro and yet again he made us very proud. The show was at Elsecar, Barnsley and we went both days. There were 12 rings, 6 per day and on the Saturday Akiro made 4 Finals and on the Sunday 5 Finals, including the very last ring where he received another BEST Alter Final. Way to go Akiro!!!

We also had the pleasure of showing Musrafy Yanara for our very good friend Maria, she did brilliantly with many BEST finals and we were very tempted to kidnap her! Well Done Yana!

It was lovely to see Alexandrite River's baby girl too, Midnightstar Rika who also did very well at her first show. Well Done Rika!

Mystique's Kittens and Kitten Update

Mystique's kittens are growing very fast and will be off this week for their first vaccinations. They are all super kittens and are very playful and cuddly. Mystique has again been a fabulous mum.

The dad is the very handsome TICA Regional Winner Champion Alexandrite Hendrix.

The kittens will be ready to go to their new homes around 17th December, just in time for Christmas!

These are the last kittens to go from Alexandrite this year and we are looking at plans for next year.

Gemini's Kittens

Gem's kittens are now 3 weeks old and doing really well we have 1 Red Lynx Point Boy, 1 Blue Lynx (Tabby) Point Boy, 1 Brown Torbie and White Girl and 1 Seal Lynx (Tabby) Point Girl.

The dad is the very handsome TICA Champion Alexandrite Phoenix Mishka.

We are hoping to get photos soon. At the moment the Seal Lynx (Tabby) Point Girl is under assessment.

Gem's kittens will be available to go to their new homes end of January.

We went off to Newbury yesterday for the CatTICA show. We took along Alexandrite Akiro to hopefully get more points towards his Supreme Alter Title and he couldn't have made us prouder. He finished the show with a total of 5 Finals

Way to go Akiro!

Again we were asked "Why is he an Alter???" Which just makes us very proud of our Siberians and for anyone who breeds cats, you can't keep everyone in the breeding program. This the judges understood. But by showing him as an alter it proves that we have picked some fantastic Siberians as our foundation cats and we are keeping those lines going with our own bred Siberians.

Show News! Alexandrite Akiro does it again!

Well after a long break from showing, we decided to do one day at the The Bengal Cat Club of Great Britain TICA show last weekend at Solihull. We took along Alexandrite Akiro, who is already a TICA Quadruple Grand Champion Alter and he made us very proud.

Up against 2 other very handsome Siberian boys, Akiro achieved 5 out of 6 Best of Breeds and 5 Finals:

We have received an enquiry for Galina's Brown and White girl so at the moment she is optioned, awaiting receipt of the deposit.

Mystique's Kittens

All kittens are doing well and just starting to explore more and to eat solids food. One of the boys has even been pinching mum's! Currently all kittens are under assessment.

Gemini's Kittens

We took Gemini for a scan yesterday just to check how she was doing. All is fine and we could see on the scan between 3 & 4 kittens. It was so exciting see the hearts beating, and the spines. They did look huge.

So we are on kitten watch again!

I will update the blog when we have any more news.

This is a repeat mating of the one that produced the handsome TICA Quadruple Grand Champion Alter Alexandrite Akiro. So we are expecting some lovely kittens with personalities to match.

Allergy Visits

We often receive enquiries for Allergy Visits, at the moment this is something we currently can't accommodate. We are the proud owners of Fudge our Birman and Nog our American Curl. We are also trying to complete the extension and remodelling of the rest of the house and garden. So with work, kittens, our furry family, home/garden, my ongoing health issue we unfortunately don't have much free time.

We are hoping that in the New Year this is something we might be able to re-look at.

Memphis Kittens

All of Memphis kittens have now been adopted. They are a lovely bunch and for Memphis first litter she couldn't have done any better. The kittens are all very cute and playful and she has looked after them really well, keeping them clean and tidy. She has definitely passed on her sweet nature and we think Paavo has passed on his love of food!

Kitten Update

Both Galina's and Memphis kittens have been to their first vet visit and all were very brave for their first vaccination and everything checked out ok. Kittens will start going off to their new homes from 30th October. We can't believe where the time has gone!!

As always we have enjoyed having both litters around and they are always doing something to entertain us and make us laugh.

We do have 3 Silver Tabby kittens, 2 boys and 1 girl from Mystique and Hendrix, they are only 4 weeks old at the moment. All are fat balls of fluff and at the moment all kittens are under assessment.

Introducing Midnightstar Coco

We are very pleased to announce the arrival of a new girl to our home and future breeding programme. I am sure everyone will be familiar with her as she is from our friend Denise of Midnightstar Siberians and Denise has been updating her blog with some lovely photos of Coco as she has grown. It was on the blog when we first spotted Coco and instantly fell in love. We loved her cute features and from what Denise said her character would just fit right in here!

So we enquired if Coco was available for breeding and yes she was, as Coco will bring to our breeding, our lines of Paavo and Mishka with some new lines from Coco's dad Katyenka Rasputin. Denise was happy for us to adopt her so we did and then all we had to do was wait for the little Star to arrive, and on Tuesday this week Denise and Chris very kindly drove over to us with Coco or as she is lovingly known "Coco Pops".

From the moment she arrived we knew she would fit in, she loved having a cuddle and she was so funny to watch exploring outside in the new outdoor space and meeting the rest of the family. She has already started to make friends with Mishkin and they will run around like mad, up and down the stairs and around the furniture and outside!! I think she has been quite a hit with him :-)

Coco isn't so sure of Fudge we think it is his colouring, bless and she was a little put off by Nog's ears at first but she is getting used to everyone. And Nog is desperate to join in with the play chasing between Coco and Mishkin. At the moment she also looks like Mojo's little sister, which is cute to see. Denise was right when she said Coco is always on the move and loved to play!

Therefore after only a couple of days with us Coco is settling in really well and she is a wonderful addition to our family. Thank you to Denise and Chris for letting Coco join our madhouse!

A couple of Coco climbing the pen at Denise's, we have found she loves to do that here and we are considering changing her name to "Steve McQueen"!

We took a couple of quick photos yesterday of Hendrix (Brown Classic Tabby). He has grown into a very handsome young man and his coat is a very rich warm brown, which you can't really see in the photo.

Memphis has baby Potsters!

We are delighted to announce the arrival of Memphis first litter to Paavo. The babies were born very early hours on Tuesday morning. We were on kitten stand by and had been checking on her but she didn't seem like she was quite ready as she wasn't due until the 3rd August. After being up rather too late for a "Work night" Andy went into check on her just before bed and to put the baby monitor in place not expecting to need it yet and to our excitement and surprise little sweet Memphis had had 4 kittens. She had done it all herself and I felt so proud of her. We stayed on kitten watch (so it was a really late night) and I think she would of preferred we hadn't but the last kitten arrived safely.

So we have 5 baby Potsters. At first looks we think we have 2 Brown Tabby Boys, 1 Silver Tabby Boy and 2 Brown Tabby Girls (1 with white tail tip, the infamous tail tip!). The browns are really dark and look like fat coffee beans!

We will get photos as soon as mum is happy for us to do so, both mum and babies are doing great. Memphis is the litter sister to Regional Winner Champion Alexandrite Hendrix.

Exciting News! Kitten News!

We have some exciting news of a new baby who will be joining our home at the end of summer. She is a sweetie and this will mix our lines with new lines. So she will be a great addition to our breeding programme. It really was love at first sight with this girl and we will introduce her properly when she arrives...

Kitten Availability
Carina has now been adopted and has gone to her new home today with Angela and Adam. She will go to be with Alexandrite Sir Leon (aka Aslan) so she will have a big brother to play with :-)

We have for quite awhile now not been letting kittens go for breeding but both "Orbit" and "The Tank" are showing a lot of promise. Fe was imported from Holland so they have the advantage of different lines, mixed with our own successful breeding programme. "Tank" is a very chunky boy and at 6 and half weeks he weighed 940g!

At the moment I am assessing "Cookie" for our own future breeding programme but she may become available at a later date.

Galina & Phoenix Kittens
We are very pleased to announce the safe arrival of 5 kittens this week to Galina and Phoenix. Our hearts were saddened though when one of the little ones didn't make it. The very sad side to breeding and something neither Andy or I will get used to.

On a happier note, we have checked the kittens and it looks like we have 2 Brown Girls, 1 Brown and White Girl, 1 Blue and White Boy (white tail tip) and 1 Blue Boy.

We will be posting photos when the kittens are a bit older, Galina is one of our girls who is very maternal so we don't want to unduly stress her. We have kept a girl from Galina and Phoenix first litter Alexandrite Morganna aka Mojo and we can vouch for what a super, sweet natured kitten she is.

Fe's Kitten Photos

Andy was able to take some photos of Fe's kittens on Wednesday. We haven't done any sooner because Fe has become stressed when we have taken babies out of the kitten box to be weighed so we didn't want to stress her more to take photos of the kittens. He also hasn't used the proper lights so they aren't the usual standard but I think the kittens look cute on them :-)

All babies are doing well and we even have an escapee out of the kitten box already. It is the Brown and White girl she seems quite the adventurer!

Kitten Plans News

Well the year is flying by!!

I haven't had chance to update our website with our next planned litters so here are the plans for summer....

We have repeated last years mating between TICA Champion Alexandrite Phoenix Mishka (Golden Classic and White Tabby) and Musrafy Galina (Blue Tabby). We could have Blue and Brown Tabbies all with or without white, patterns could be Classic, Spotted and Mackerel. We had some wonderful kittens in this mating last year including pretty Morganna (Mojo) who we kept and the handsome King Arthur. Galina is due at the end of July 2011. Kittens would be ready to go to their new homes end of October 2011.

Our next litter will be TICA International Winner Supreme Grand Champion Cooncreole Paavo (Seal Lynx (Tabby) Point) and Alexandrite Memphis (Black Silver Tabby). Memphis is the litter sister to TICA Regional Winner Champion Alexandrite Hendrix. We could have Brown and Silver Tabbies and if we are lucky Seal Lynx (Tabby) Points too. Memphis is due the beginning of August 2011, with kittens ready to go beginning of November 2011. This is the first time we have done this mating but we are hoping for some lovely kittens who have mum's sweet nature and dad's laid back approach to life!

Fe's Kittens First Photos

Fe's kittens are just a week old today and growing into fat little sausages. We took some quick photos this morning on my phone so not great quality but you can see how cute they are, and we didn't want to stress Fe too much.

Fe is looking after the babies brilliantly and you can see how proud she is of them.

After making us have numerous sleepless nights listening for babies to arrive on the baby monitor, Fe finally had the babies yesterday. She was due last Wednesday so I was really stressed by Saturday!

She had 6 babies, a mixture of colours including one red boy who stands out in the litter! He is our first proper red and it makes me chuckle when I see him :-)

I will update with more news next weekend when the kittens are a bit older and mum won't be too stressed.

Our older kittens have all been to the vets for their first check and vaccination. All were very brave and back to scamping when they got home!

Andy and I went to the Siberian Cat Club AGM yesterday and it went well, the club is definitely moving in the right direction now and it was a great afternoon.

We were working in the extension yesterday, Andy was laying the new flooring and Mojo (Morganna) decided to pose on it and I took a quick photo on my phone.

Kitten Availability!!

Over the past couple of weeks I have been working through the enquiries list. Andy and I are trying to make sure that everyone gets the kitten they want but we have been inundated with requests and emails.

If anyone does miss out on a kitten from our gorgeous Spring litters we are excited to announce that Fe is due at the beginning of June. The dad to the litter is the handsome TICA Champion Alexandrite Phoenix Mishka and they had some super kittens in their last litter, a real mixture of colours. I recently had an email from one of the mum's who adopted Georgii (one of the Red Silver boys) from Fe and Phoenix first litter and this is what she wrote

P.S. I am delighted to hear that you have plans to breed Phoenix and Fe again,I think anyone who wants to adopt a siberian should have a chance to live with 1 as adorable as my Georgii;)

Serafina Kitten Videos

Andy was able to take a couple of short videos of Serafina and Hendrix kittens. They are very cute and very difficult to tell apart!

They have started sleeping in the cat tree now and Serafina likes to sleep in the hammock next to them.

The kitten on the right is one of the girls and the boy is biting his sister's ear!

In the second video the boy is trying to escape and then goes back to biting his sister!

Boo Boo Kitten Video

A short video of Alexandrite Tynan, whose name means dark and dusty to go with his Black Smoke colouring. And his sister Alexandrite Nixie, which means Water Sprite, and she definitely is!

Both Tynan and Nixie have been adopted and will be going to their new home in May. They are going together which will be lovely for them.

I do have some photos of the younger litters which I will be sending out shortly to everyone who has enquired. For the time being I won't be adding any photos to the blog because it is very annoying to see the photos being used to scam people out of money. I am hoping for Andy to get some videos of them which I will upload to the blog, no one has pinched videos yet!

Pantera Kittens Video

It looks like we have 2 Silver and White tabby boys, a Black Smoke and White boy, a Blue Tabby boy and a Black Smoke girl.

Well time has flown by since Boo Boo and Mishka's kittens arrived in February!

Boo had 2 kittens a Black Smoke Boy and a Silver Classic Girl, both kittens are very cute and love exploring. I have taken enquiries for both kittens but if they do become available I will update the blog with the news.

Scammers Again!!

It was very upsetting for us this week to learn from Melanie at Snowgum Siberians that someone has pinched her website wording and is passing it off as their own!

What is very hard for us to see is that they are using our kitten photos and one of them is of Calix. It is so frustrating and it does upset geniune breeders when this happens. We have been the victim of our photos being pinched so many times now but this really is taking it too far.

I feel really bad for Melanie as she has put a lot of hardwork into her site and I know from experience how long putting together a site and the words can take so to see it being used to scam people out of money makes me very angry.

Only the other day Andy spoke to a lady who had been offered a kitten to adopt and they had used our kitten photos of Georgina, Akiro's sister.

So if you are looking for a Siberian kitten or any other kitten please check to make sure you are dealing with a genuine breeder.

Pantera Kitten Photos

This first photo was taken last week of who we call "The Mishka Bear", you can definitely tell who the daddy is!!

This little guy is under assessment for the time being.

I then took some quick photos on Saturday of Pantera's kittens. We haven't taken proper ones yet as they are still a bit young and Pantera wasn't too keen on the idea. So rather than stress her out we are going to wait a little bit and hopefully in a weeks time we should be able to get some videos and better photos. So sorry about the quality but I still think they look very cute and they are all very fat sausages :-)

The kittens have arrived!!

Sorry for not posting sooner, with the sad news of Mercury and then Nog arriving I don't know where last week went!

We are very excited to announce not one but two litters arriving last week, the first to arrive were Pantera's and Mishka's babies. We think we have 4 boys and 1 girl, a mixture of Silver Tabbies and with and without white. The girl maybe Black Smoke but I will confirm colours soon.

The second litter is between Serafina and Hendrix, we have been waiting for this mating to happen and at one point we thought it wasn't but good things come to those who wait LOL! Serafina had 2 boys and 1 girl, all Silver Tabbies.

Both mums and babies are doing really well. The kittens are already very fat sausages and hopefully should get some videos soon. Wasn't able to yesterday as Andy hurt his back so he was in too much pain to take videos. He is feeling a bit better today.

The kittens won't be available to reserve until around 4 to 5 weeks old, by which time we should know who is available and who maybe under assessment. Well in true Hollywood Celebrity style we have added to our family and no not another Siberian or Birman we have gone for a different breed, yes Nog is an American Curl!

We have been very lucky to adopt Nog from Claire and Stefan at Overear American Curls.

After our recent heartache with losing both Calix and Mercury, Nog does his best to heal our hearts and we love him for it.

The first one was taken about a month ago, we think he looks so like his dad Mishka and the second one with Danae of him playing in the garden was taken just 3 days before he sadly passed away...

In Loving Memory of Alexandrite Calix and Alexandrite Mercury

It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that I write this blog and it is one I wish I didn't have to do.

At the beginning of February we had the very sad news from the people who had adopted Calix's aka Meka that in a very tragic accident where he had got caught up in the blind cord and had unfortunately passed away. This was a great shock to us all as Calix was only just 4 months old and had his whole life ahead of him. Kittens get up to all types of trouble but I would like for anyone who is thinking of getting a kitten to be careful with blind cords and if you do have blinds, tie the cord up if you can.

All we can do now is remember Calix as he was as a kitten growing up, always up to mischief but looking so handsome at all times. His life was short but he had so much love in that short time. Here are a few words from Chris and John, and we really think this is how he should be remembered

He is certainly feeling his feet now and has us both wrapped around his little "paw". He is turning into a beautiful little kitten and has stolen our hearts. He sleeps on my pillow most nights and has also taken to laying with the dog (as you can see from the photo). As I am typing this email he is sat at the side of me watching my fingers on the keyboard. He is a little darling. I have never heard a cat purr so much as he does and he loves lots of strokes and cuddles.

On Friday we had the awful news that Mercury aka Hermes had been involved in a road traffic accident and he had passed away. This was another shock for us as Mercury had just reached a year old. None of us can believe it has happened, he was such a character in his new home from the stories Marina told us he got up too.

A few words from Marina

Most of all we miss his cheerful greeting chirp and all his accounts of his heroics and antics he used to ‘tell us’ when he was coming home, running for a cuddle.

Both these boys were so sweet and loved by all who met them. Even though they had very short times with us all, they were spoilt rotten and added so much to each of our lives.

I am sure they are both with Kahlan and Dizzee now, playing and up to mischief and watching over us. We will meet again, watch over us and you are both so deeply and trully missed.

Well 2010 was a great year for us and our Siberians we had 2 TICA REGIONAL WINS with

Not forgetting the achievements of

and Alexandrite Phoenix Mishka who is now a TICA Champion

We also had some wonderful and very beautiful Siberian kittens who have given us a lot of pleasure and who have now gone on to their new homes and are being spoilt rotten by their new families. Thank you to their new owners for the lovely updates and photos of the kittens in their new homes. I am hoping over the coming weeks to update our Flickr album with photos of kittens in their new homes so everyone can see how much they are spoilt and how immensely proud it makes us to read the lovely comments which we receive about our kittens.

On a personal note it has been a difficult year for me health wise and sometimes I haven't been well enough to reply to emails or update the blog and website. Due to my ill-health we have also not been able to show our beautiful Siberians and currently I am not sure when we will be able to start that again, hopefully soon. At the moment I am just recovering from another dose of flu which has set me back quite a bit.

This last year at times I have come very close to stopping breeding this wonderful breed and without Andy's and my families support I think I would have. What has also helped me through difficult times is our beautiful furry family and of course the kittens, the antics they get up to here in the first 13 weeks and then the wonderful updates we receive from their new families. Receiving photos of the kittens being spoilt rotten, or in various modes of play and positions of sleep, have brought a smile to my face on what has been sometimes a very bad day. So a big Thank You for those updates and please keep them coming...

So what does 2011 hold for us well I am hoping for a better year for me and of course we are planning on some beautiful Siberian Kittens throughout the year.

Our first kittens due this year are from Alexandrite Beonin (Boo Boo) and QGC Alexandrite Angelus Mishka, they are expected in February. So fingers and paws crossed for Boo Boo and babies.

Over the year (and probably 2012!!) we have plans for but of course it depends on the girls and boys and the order is not decided but here goes...

Triple Grand Champion Alter Alexandrite Akiro

Andy took a couple of short videos of Akiro the other weekend doing his favourite thing playing!!

Akiro has such a sweet nature and doesn't seem to have grown up at all. He is now 18 months old and just as playful as when he was a kitten and still hasn't learnt to do as he is told :-) He likes to squeak at us alot and the noise for a boy of his size is very silly. Akiro also loves collecting things including sweetie wrappers, anything plastic, sponges, milk tops, just about anything!! We call him our magpie.

He looks so like his mum Gemini now and he is still his mummy's baby boy. She always greets him with a head butt, it is very sweet to see.

Andy took photos yesterday of Galina's and Phoenix gorgeous babies, they are 8 weeks old now and into everything, really loving exploring outside their kitten room. They are getting into all sorts of mischief now!!

This is the first time we have done this mating and we are really excited with how lovely the kittens are. Galina is the mum of our handsome boy TICA Regional Winner Champion Alexandrite Hendrix, who was BEST Siberian Kitten Western Europe Season 2009-10. There dad is also very handsome and is a TICA Champion too.

We are still assessing 3 of Galina's girls so for now we have available Alexandrite King Arthur, a Brown Classic Tabby and White Boy and Alexandrite Catrina, a Brown Tabby and White Girl. Two of the kittens have already been adopted.

The videos are mainly of the girls as the boys were sleepy! This week has been a big adventure for them as they have just started to explore outside the kitten room, so our next videos will be of their new adventures.

All happening here as we are just getting ready to start the extension which has been in the planning stages forever, but I am quite excited as it means we can hopefully sort out the garden next summer and have the extra space for our furry family!

Anyanka's Kitten Photos

Finally got some photos of Anyanka's little ones at the weekend and I can't believe they are only just 5 weeks old this week, they seem so much older! I am still pondering on the names, hopefully I will have decided for when the next photos are taken. Andy says I take too long, but to me the name has to fit the kitten and at the moment they are just little scamps and they can't be called that!

The kittens are what I can only describe as "Feet Magnets", when you look down they are by your feet waiting to be picked up, stroked or played with. They are so cute and so laid back.

I have had a lot of enquiries for the kittens so if you have emailed me about a particular kitten please let me know as soon as you can if you are still interested, please email kittens@alexandrite-siberian-kittens.co.uk.

Blue Smoke and White Boy - he is "Feet Magnet" Number One and as you could see in his videos so very cute and laid back. He maybe the smallest in the litter but he definitely doesn't know it and he makes up for it with a cheeky face and nature!

Blue Tabby and White Boy - "Feet Magnet" Number Two, he is just like his brother around your feet and when he isn't doing that he is scamping about with his siblings!

Black Silver Tabby and White Boy - the last of the boys and "Feet Magnet" Number Three, he also has the scruffy look well and truly honed! Yes, he was brushed before these photos were taken but you wouldn't think so and Mishka his dad would be in shock as he always looks well groomed :-)

Black Silver Tabby and White Girl - just as sweet as her mum Anyanka, when the videos were taken on Sunday she was fast asleep and she looked so cute. When she isn't asleep she is exploring and was one of the first out of the kitten box.

Black Silver Tabby Girl - this little girl can be seen in the video fighting with her brother, and when the photos were taken she was little bit cross with Andy for disturbing her afternoon of fun and exploring!

Anyanka's Kittens

Andy took some videos of Anyanka's little ones yesterday. They are whizzing around now and growing too fast! I am still thinking of names for the little ones, at the moment they are all just little scamps!

I have uploaded all of the videos to Anyanka's Kittens Album on flickr, but here is one of the kittens playing. The Silver and White girl was still fast asleep in the kitten box so we are missing her from the video. (Anyanka Kittens Playing Video)

There are also some videos of each of the boys being held and they look so relaxed, Anyanka is such a sweetheart and she passes this on to her kittens. The boys remind me of how daft their Uncle Grumpy was at this age!

Not Siberians but just as gorgeous!

I have just sent off my membership renewal for the Scottish Wildcat Association. I came across their website last year and instantly fell in love with them and I was touched by the people who are dedicated in saving this rare breed. There are currently only 400 remaining, and it would be a terrible shame for another part of our small Island's heritage to disappear.

They look such a majestic animal and they make me think how similar they are too Siberians and is this what a Siberian would resemble in the wild?

Please visit the website and see for yourself what a wonderful cat they are! And if you are thinking of a different Christmas present this year and at only £25 for membership, I think this is a wonderful idea.

Anyanka's Kittens Escaping!!

Andy took a short video on Sunday of Anyanka's kittens @ 3 and half weeks of age. All the kittens are doing great and so very cute. Anyanka has such adorable, friendly kittens.

The Blue tabby boy comes to the front of the box and squeaks for attention. It is still difficult to tell the silver kittens apart, so at the start of the video we have one of the Silver kits on the left, the Blue tabby boy in the middle and the Blue (Smoke) with White on the right. He is so cute and even though the smallest at the moment in the litter he is so feisty, I really love this little guy. Saying that, I love them all!

Galina's Kittens

A short video of Galina's kittens @ 2 and half weeks old. Galina had 7 kittens 2 Blue tabbies and 5 Brown Tabbies with and without white. All kittens are doing well and very cute. Galina is being a brilliant mum as always, but she did decide earlier in the week that she didn't want the kittens in the kitten box anymore and next to it was much better.

New Kittens Welcome Back Present!!

I am back from a lovely trip to Boston with my Mum, we had a great time, gorgeous hotel and some rest!

Andy looked after the furry bunch, and on Tuesday last week Galina gave birth to 7 stunning babies. We have 5 browns and 2 blues, and because Phoenix is the Dad we have a mixture of with and without white. I will confirm boys and girls soon.

It was a lovely welcome back for me and I couldn't believe how big they were already! With 7 packed in there I thought they would be smaller but no all really good weights.

Anyanka's are nearly two weeks old and all doing well. I think we have 2 blues (possibly our first blue smoke) and 3 silvers again with Mishka the Dad a mixture of with and without white!

I am still getting over the journey home and first day back at work, definite feeling of "First day back Monday blues!!" and I seem to have now started with a cold so please don't think I won't be replying I just need some time to get back up to date. With the arrival of Galina's kittens we should have enough kittens to cover our recent enquiries :-)

Both litters should be ready to go to their new homes around Christmas time.

Ajax is a Brown Tabby and he is the son of gorgeous Anuta and handsome Paavo. He is 5 weeks old and just starting to explore more. He was the only kitten in the litter so we are going to repeat the mating as we are so pleased with how handsome he is. Therefore Anuta will be staying with us for the time being, she obviously didn't want to leave us just yet!!

NEW KITTENS ARRIVE!!

Anyanka and Mishka's kittens have arrived, 5 beautiful babies. We have 3 boys and 2 girls. I will confirm colours when they are a bit older but it looks like we have a mixture of Blues, Brown and Silvers, with and without white.

BOSTON

I will be away from tomorrow and won't be back until next weekend, my mum and I are going off to Boston, USA for a girls holiday. We are very excited!!

Andy will be at home if you want to enquire about our kittens, but any email replies will be left until I am home again so please don't think I'm not replying!

Drusilla Kittens First Steps!

A couple of short videos of the baby Potsters!

The first one is their first steps or should I say mastering the stairs! Drusilla is very unhappy now the kittens are exploring outside the kitten room, but she finds them a little toy mouse and then calls them to her, it is very sweet.

Watch out for Astro (White Tip) coming down the stairs it is so cute.

It is a good job all these boys are now adopted otherwise I would have been so tempted, especially as I love white tips on tails...

Cimus, Hercules & Jupiter

A short video of Cimus and the two kittens Hercules (Mystique's baby boy) and Jupiter (Serafina's baby boy) chilling out on the cat tree.

A couple of weeks ago we had a call that due to personal circumstances changing at the home where Cimus had gone to with Oliver one of our kittens, he would need to be re-homed. So without hesitating Andy and I went to pick him and brought him home again. He has settled right back in and has been a love bug from the moment he arrived. He has now been adopted by Hercules and Jupiter as their "Big Brother" and the video below is a testament to what a super and loving breed the Siberian is. The video was taken by Andy the morning after the 3 boys first met and it is heart warming for us to see.

We would love for Cimus to stay but we think it would be better for him if we can find him another home with one of the kittens. But for now we are just happy he is here.

Drusilla & Paavo Kitten Videos

A couple of short videos of Drusilla's 3 handsome boys at 5 weeks of age. The boys are growing so fast and starting to get more scampy each day!

All 3 boys have now been adopted.

First video we have Alexandrite Astro (Silver and White boy, white tip to tail) on the bottom and his two brothers are on the top Alexandrite Alexander (Silver and White boy) is at the front and Alexandrite Artemas (Silver boy) is at the back. Astro wasn't too sure about Andy and the camera, but who can blame him!!

Well just over 3 weeks ago we had the excitement of our first Paavo babies aka baby Potsters!

Paavo and Drusilla have made us very proud. Drusilla had 3 boys, all silver and 2 with white. They are growing into fat babies who are just as handsome as dad. I haven't got names for the boys yet as I want to see their characters first. But here are some photos of the cute boys taken yesterday...

A couple of photos of Serafina's little baby boy Alexandrite Jupiter. At the moment we aren't sure if his Black Smoke as another of our kittens was just the same at his age and as he grew he got darker and darker. If he isn't he is definitely a Black Silver Tabby!

He is just 4 weeks old and starting to explore more. I feel a bit sad for him because there is only him on his own hopefully when he is a bit bigger he will be able to mix with Mystique's two boys.

All of Boo Boo's little ones have now gone off to their new homes, so the house is quiet without them. It always feels empty when they go even with the rest of our family to look after, there is always an emptiness to the house when the little scamps go off to their new homes. We get used to the daily dose of mischief, which we always miss. So we wait now for the next little ones to start adding their daily dose of mischief...in the meantime Akiro will always try to fill the gap!

We seem to have had no time recently, so sorry if you have emailed me and I haven't got back to you, I will try to answer emails this week. We do have kittens and I will be updating the blog in the next few weeks with news of how they are doing and of course some photos. We have the following little ones:

Show News!! TICA Champion Alter Alexandrite Argentia

We had some very exciting news yesterday from Erica who is the mummy to Alexandrite Argentia, Angie to her family or also called Little Scamp!

Scamp had been to her first TICA show as an adult competing in the Alter Class and did very well at only 9 months of age. She got 3 Best of Breeds and 2 Finals, a 3rd Best Longhair and a 9th Allbreed Alter.

The judges thought she was a good size and loved her playfulness in the ring! Just like her mum Ariana! And there was a lot of praise for her silver/black shaded fur, as well as her beautiful muzzle.

We are so proud of her, well done to Scamp. Thank you to Erica and Darren for showing her.

We have had great news from TICA today, it's official our sweet, loveable boy Alexandrite Akiro is

Triple Grand Champion Alter Alexandrite Akiro

He achieved Champion Alter at his first show and then at the last show of the Season he gained his Triple Grand Champion Alter title. With 10 finals and 3040 points, he is a Superstar and all at only 10 months of age.

Well Done Akiro, you make us all very proud :-)

After seeing this again tonight (I think this is about the 3rd time) I thought it best to write about it on our blog. I have found a Siberian Kitten Advert offering cheap Siberians for £120, that isn't the issue I do not dictate what anyone else asks for their kittens. What I do object to is our kitten photos being used to advertise them!

The advert in question was added in April to the classifieds website, location Queens Park, Scotland. They have used this photo from our website Silver Siberian Cats kitten page

The photo is of Alexandrite Arianell and Alexandrite Genevieve, who were born in February 2008. Arianell now lives with Denise at Midnightstar Siberians.

I have not contacted the person who is doing this as in the past when I have they have insisted the kittens were theirs and they had bred them, which was a complete lie. And I found the whole experience very upsetting.

Due to this I am now forced to modify each photo we use on our blog or website with our cattery name Alexandrite but this is an older photo and at the time I didn't do this.

We currently only advertise our kittens on a few websites, mainly Cat Planet and Breeders on Line.

So please be careful when purchasing kittens make sure you are adopting the kittens in the photos and always make sure you are dealing with a reputable breeder. Ask for current photos of the kittens and where possible, arrange to see the kittens after their first vaccination.

Kitten News

Well it has been non-stop here! The last couple of weeks have seen little ones go off to their new homes, more home improvements and last week I was on a 4 day course at Gatwick called "Dimensional Modeling In Depth", very geeky but brilliant. So if I haven't replied to emails sorry still catching up after a 3:30am start on the Tuesday to fly down to Gatwick and then 4 days of intense training, but it was great fun and very interesting. Got home Friday evening to a start a quiet weekend, not sure that is possible though with our little family but we do try :-)

On Sunday Grumpy had fun in the garden on his harness, it was hilarious to see Andy trying to keep up with him. When Grumpy runs he pulls like a steam engine and is faster than he looks.

Then this morning at 4am we welcomed into the family two new arrivals, Mystique was very brave and did it all herself. Miskha is the proud dad. We were a little worried as she had only two and Andy wasn't sure if he felt another kitten, so to be on the safe side we took her to the vets for a scan. All was okay and mum and babies are doing great.
