Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!

A little bit late...

Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year
from us all here at Alexandrite Siberians xx

Andy and I wanted to say a bit thank you to everyone who has adopted one of our kittens over the last year and in previous years for keeping us updated with how the bubbas are doing.

It has been a mixed year for us with the sadness of losing Kahlan. We miss you so much Kahlan, our first Christmas without you has been hard. The kittens have been helping and in honor of Kahlan they have been doing their best to climb the Christmas tree and pull the decorations off. You will never be forgotten Little Bob and we know how you loved this time of year xxx

Thanks to my Mum & Dad for having us yesterday for tea and for being there over the year and baby sitting while we were away. Also thanks to Andy's Mum & Dad for helping to baby sit too.

Also a big thanks to our fellow breeder friends for all your support, and for just being there when things sometimes get a bit crazy or sad.

Here's to next Year and happier, brighter times...

In loving memory of Kahlan, our sweet Little Bobtail xxx

Show News - Here come the boys!!!

I have been feeling pretty poorly lately so it was at one point an unknown whether we would go to the Spoticat TICA show last Saturday in Coventry but we did in the end and even though it was a really long day for us all we are very happy we did. We took Paavo, Phoenix and baby Akiro and this is how well they did:

Alexandrite Akiro
  • 6th Best Allbreed Kitten Final (65 kitten count) - Toni Jones
  • 7th Best Longhair Kitten Final (27 longhair kitten count) - Vlada Benynia
  • 3rd Best Kitten Final - Vicki-Jo Harrison (Training ring)
  • 6 out of 7 Best of Breeds - 3 Siberian Kittens shown including Akiro
We were so pleased for Akiro he is a sweet boy and after going through a lanky stage, he is really filling out now and still growing like a weed! He is 5 months old and 4.2kg now! No wonder my foot hurt the other week when he decided to jump down from my arms and drop on it!

IW SGC Cooncreole Paavo
  • 2nd Best Allbreed Cat Final (75 cat count) - Monika Dany
  • 9th Best Allbreed Cat Final (77 cat count) - Lynn Judge
  • 3rd Best Longhair Cat Final (34 longhair count) - Vlada Benynia
  • 3 out of 6 Best of Breeds - 5 Siberian Cats shown including Paavo and Phoenix
Paavo was a star again and he had so much fun on the scratchy posts, but what a chunk to carry around, thank goodness Andy was there!

Alexandrite Phoenix Mishka
  • 3 out of 6 3rd Best of Breeds
No finals for handsome Phoenix but he behaved like a true gentlemen and looked after his baby boy Akiro all day.

Unfortunately we couldn't make the Regional Awards show dinner to collect Paavo's awards but our friend Maria very kindly picked his Regional Award and International Award up for us. Very excited to see what he got :-) Big thanks to Maria for collecting them for us.

At the Naturally TICA Show held in Elsecar in November Paavo got a Best Cat Final (49 cat count) in Robin Sessler's Ring and 2 Best of Breeds. Well done Paavo! Baby Akiro got 2 Best of Breeds.

The boys make us very proud and we are just so happy that they want to go to the shows. Well done boys!

Alexandrite Cookie & Alexandrite Fifi

Due to circumstances changing at the home Cookie and Fifi were going to they are now looking for their forever home. Cookie is a Golden Spotted and White and Fifi is a Brown Classic Tabby. Both girls are adorable, they are always together either playing or sleeping and we really want the two girls to go together still. So because of this Andy and I are looking for a home that will adopt them both at a substantial reduction to the usual adoption cost. Cookie and Fifi will be available to go to their new home from this weekend.

There are videos of Cookie and Fifi on the blog, you can find them by clicking on the label Tomintouls Dreamgirl Santa Fe.

If you think you can offer these two sweet girls a loving forever home please contact us either call or email kittens@alexandrite-siberian-kittens.co.uk. I have photos of the two girls taken last night I just haven't had time to sort them out to put on the blog.

Update & Kittens Available

Well it has been a horrible couple of weeks for me I am recovering from what seems to have now been Swine Flu and a Sinus infection. After going to the Elsecar show on the Saturday where I felt absolutely rotten, and shouldn't have gone, I have spent the last two weeks in the house feeling really poorly and I am still recovering. So my apologies if you have emailed me with news of our kitties in their new homes, I did appreciate the emails and I will reply, still trying to catch up with everything!

We had planned to go to the Supreme with Grumpy and Phoenix on exhibition but that was a no go :-( Poor Grumpy looks so handsome too and not forgetting handsome little man Phoenix, maybe next time...

We do still have kittens available, who are able to go to their new homes for Christmas. Once these kittens are gone we will be having a little break, so if you would like one of our beautiful Alexandrite Siberians please email me kittens@alexandrite-siberian-kittens.co.uk for details of who we have available.

Alexandrite Phoenix Mishka

A short video of Phoenix taken the other day and he looks so very handsome. The video isn't great quality and it really doesn't show off his rich Golden colour and Green eyes. He is such a sweet boy and passes on this wonderful temperament to all his kittens.

We had some kitten visits yesterday and everyone thought what a gorgeous boy he was and a chunk! I think you can see from the video why the ladies here love him!

Anyanka's Kittens

Some videos of Anyanka and Mishka's beautiful babies @ 5 weeks.

First up we have 2 beautiful girls, Brown Tabby and White and Silver Classic Tabby and White, very sweet little girls, with perfect front white feet.

Next we have Anyanka's little Silver tabby boy and his sister. The little fellow is so very fluffy!

And one Black Smoke and White boy, how cute! Spot the white tip on the tail again! We love tails with white tips here.

Finally the little Silver and white girl again, playing with her toy mouse!
(Anyanka likes to lie on the mats!)

Clash of the Red Silver Titans!

Andy took this video tonight of Alexandrite Jackson, Red/Cream Silver Shaded and Alexandrite Georgii, who now has developed a classic pattern is Red Silver Classic, fighting in the kitten room. Georgii is the slightly darker boy but in the flesh neither of the boys are this red, the camera makes them looker redder than they really are.

It is a great bit of play fighting and could be taken straight out of a Hollywood blockbuster! Georgii thinks he has won by pinning Jackson down and then Jackson runs around the room all arched back as if to say "That didn't hurt! I was letting you win!"

Jackson is still looking for his forever home, so if you think you can tame this little Titan please contact me kittens@alexandrite-siberian-kittens.co.uk

Another one of Jackson...look at those moves it takes some practice to be this good...watch out for Leora happily playing while Jackson flies in and then Kyle coming in for rugby tackle!

One of Georgii and his little sister Cookie, who really didn't want a big bear hug off her brother! I think you also see Kyle fall of the cat tree too! I am sure he meant to do that...

What a week! Show News & Kittens Video

Well it has been quite a stressful week for us this week. It all started with a rather unpleasant email on the Monday, my Dad was rushed into hospital on the Wednesday, but thankfully he is home now and on the mend. On the Thursday morning I ended up with a rather nasty visual migraine, which I get when stressed and they affect me for a couple of days afterwards. Friday at work was quite a challenge and seemed to last an eternity. So as a result of such a difficult week I am running behind on emails, so please bear with me if you have sent me an email and I haven't replied, I will get to them.

We had paid for the Cattica Newbury TICA show on the Saturday but this was in doubt as I was worrying about my Dad and didn't feel very well at all, and we hadn't even got ready for the show. So Andy got everything ready for the show, he gave Paavo a quick shower and I helped dry him. So on the Friday night I set the alarm for just before 5am and we had decided if I didn't feel well in the morning then we wouldn't go. After a rather bad night we did get up and go off to the show, but after the week we had had I really wasn't expecting it to go well.

We arrived a bit late, and got everything setup, we had taken Paavo the gentle giant and little Akiro at just 4 months he was going to be one of the babies of the show, and he was going along for a chance to see how he coped with it. There were 2 other Siberian male
s, 1 Siberian male alter and 3 other Siberian kittens at the show, so a good turn out.

After both boys got a couple of second Best of Breeds, the weekend seemed to be going how I predicted but then it improved with Paavo gaining an Allbreed final, in which Maria's new boy from Siberia achieved a fabulous Best Cat. Paavo received an 8th Best Cat. Then baby Akiro got Best of Breed and a final where he achieved 2nd Best Longhair Kitten from Monika Dany, and some lovely comments. Way to go Little Akiro! Something exciting to tell his mum Gemini about when he got home. Then Monika went on to give Paavo Best of Breed and a Best Longhair Cat award! Top Man Paavo!

Overall the day turned out well, with the final results being:

IW SGC Cooncreole Paavo
  • Best Longhair Cat - Judge: Monika Dany
  • 6th Best Allbreed Cat - Judge: Jeff Roberts
  • 8th Best Allbreed Cat - Judge: Rob Seliskar
  • 8th Best Allbreed Cat - Judge: Genevieve Basquine
  • 3 Best of Breeds
  • 3 Second Best of Breeds
Alexandrite Akiro
  • 2nd Best Longhair Kitten - Judge: Monika Dany
  • 1 Best of Breed
  • 5 Second Best of Breeds
We are so very proud of the boys and they both behaved like gentlemen.

While we were at the show we got some a couple more Catrix Cat trees, which our little family think are fabulous. They definitely get loads of fun out of them. Andy took the videos today of Galina and Ariana's little ones having fun!

Galina's Kittens

A couple of videos of Galina's little bunch of scamps. They are all very cute and playful, but what a mess they can make!

Fe's Kittens

A couple of videos of Fe's little scamps, little Cookie is a star, so sweet and always in a world of her own, but she loves playing with Fifi. I think Fifi is running around the stool! Mia is venturing down the stairs. Georgii and Jackson are messing around as usual.

Life is one big race track and making a mess!!

Anyanka & Babies

A couple short videos one of Anyanka being very silly with her toy mouse! As you can see she is such a sweetie and one of the little babies. Anyanka has four babies:
  • Silver Tabby Boy
  • Black Smoke and White Boy - on hold
  • Silver and White Girl - adopted
  • Brown and White Girl
All babies are doing very well and look so cute.

Paavo at the TICA show

A short video of Paavo at the Bengal of Great Britain TICA show, with his scruffy summer coat on! But as always looking very stressed NOT! He loved the scratchy posts.

Back from Washington, DC

Yes, I am back! And all the babies have grown and look very cute!

I had a super trip with my Mum, we both really enjoyed it. There were loads of places to visit and of course we had to do the obligatory trip to Bloomingdales and Macy's. So after travelling back overnight on Friday, we got back to Heathrow yesterday at 7am to then take our connecting flight up to Manchester, finally getting home at around 2pm! So after only 2 hours sleep in over 24hrs I was feeling very tired last night and this morning I was a bit jet lagged, therefore I haven't got as much done today as I wanted. But Andy has been busy taking photos and there are now over 300 photos for me to sort through!

I have picked names for the kittens, well I think so, sometimes I pick a name and then change my mind because I then don't think it suits them...but we do have names now and I will be working on the photos over the next couple of days. So I know I have promised photos to quite a few people they are on there way!

PS We are lucky to be able to download any photos, Akiro has had a very busy afternoon of chewing through the USB port and the camera cable! Last week he chewed through 2 phone chargers!!! Andy says he has jaws of steel, what a naughty boy he is, but so cute you can't be cross with him. The face of an Angel but a naughty streak the Devil would be proud of...

Washington, DC Trip

Well not a Siberian related trip this time, so no new members to the family, instead a mini-holiday for my Mum and I, and we are having a fabulous time here in Washington, DC, USA.

We arrived on Sunday after a bit of upset at the airport when I had a bit of bad time with the landing and needed a wheelchair to go through passport control, we think it was down to a drop in the oxygen level. Which I have experienced before, bit scary but felt loads better on Monday.

Monday we went to see the Whitehouse, we were going to call but couldn't fit it in our busy schedule! Next stop The Museum of Natural History, where we spent about 5 hours walking around! Saw the biggest diamonds on exhibition, watch out Andy I need an upgrade again to the Engagement Ring... Then quick stop at Macy's for much needed shopping.

Today we have been to Arlington Cemetery, we had a tour and saw where JFK is buried and we looked around a great exhibition on Women in War, those women make us proud to be girls. Then we got the metro (yes news announcement I have travelled public transport!) back to the city and had a quick look around the Air and Space Museum.

More places to visit tomorrow, and we aren't back until Saturday so Andy is at home holding the fort for me. So I have limited access to emails but I am answering emails to the Alexandrite Siberian Kittens account where possible.

Thanks Andy couldn't have come without you looking after the family xxx

Fe's Kittens

Some videos of Fe's furry bunch of cuteness! Fe really likes kissing the camera! Fe's kittens are just 3 weeks old today.

Galina's Kittens

A couple of short videos of Galina's little bunch, they are only just 3 weeks old and were a bit sleepy but you can see how terribly cute they are!

Ariana's Kittens

Another short video of Ariana's bundles of fun! They are at the stage of walking, no I'm running, oh no I've fallen over!

The video is at 3 and half weeks old. Ariana wasn't taking part so we will take another one tomorrow with Ariana on.

Ariana's Babies

A couple of videos of Ariana and her little bundles of cuteness @ 3 weeks old today. Ariana has had some beautiful babies and a variety of colours, we have 1 Silver tabby and White girl (spot the white tip to her tail!), 1 Brown tabby (possible Golden) and White girl (again another tail with a white tip!), 1 Brown tabby girl, 1 Silver tabby and White boy, 1 Brown boy and 1 Blue Silver (maybe Golden) tabby boy. Yes, Ariana decided to add complication to her kitten colours!

As you can see in the videos very cute kittens the girls should be as pretty as mum and the boys as handsome as dad Phoenix. Ariana is a talker too and Phoenix likes to chirp, so they should have plenty to say for themselves. Ariana's babies will be able to go to their new homes early December, if you think you can offer one of these gorgeous babies a forever home please email kittens@alexandrite-siberian-kittens.co.uk

We are so very proud of our family of Siberians and the beautiful kittens they have, it is lovely that we can share our home and life with them xx

Fe's Babies

A couple of videos of sweet Fe and her beautiful babies @ 2 weeks of age. Fe has had a first for us with 1 Red Silver boy, 1 Cream Silver boy, 1 Brown and White girl, 2 Brown tabby girls, 1 Brown tabby boy and 1 Silver tabby girl. WOW quite a mixture of colours!

We can't wait to see how the Red and Cream Silver boys grow, they look like peaches and cream at the moment. All the babies are very cute and Fe is doing a wonderful job as a first time mum, you can hear Fe purring in the background and at one point she kisses the camera. How sweet! Phoenix is the proud dad. We are expecting the kittens to have mum and dad's sweet natures.

At the moment the silver girl and brown boy have been adopted. Fe's babies will be able to go to their new homes mid December, please contact us for details at kittens@alexandrite-siberian-kittens.co.uk

Galina's Babies

A short video of beautiful Galina and her babies @ 2 weeks old. Galina has 3 brown tabby girls, 1 silver tabby girl, 1 brown tabby boy and 2 silver boys. At the moment I think the 2 silver boys and silver girl are reserved, but don't underestimate how stunning the browns are. They really are cute little bundles of fur!

Galina previous kittens have been gorgeous, so we are expecting these to be just as sweet and they are definitely cute in the video. Galina's babies will be able to go to their new homes early December. The dad to the kittens is our handsome Cimus.

Please contact me at kittens@alexandrite-siberian-kittens.co.uk if you would like more information.

Ariana and Phoenix Babies

After a couple of weeks of a roller coaster of emotions we wanted to share some photos of Ariana and Phoenix beautiful Siberian Kittens.

The kittens are opening their eyes so we wanted to get some photos but could only get a couple of the kittens as they were crying for mum and Ariana got very cross with us!

We think they are all very cute and we hopefully will be able to get some more photos this weekend.

Sometimes it is very hard...

Very sad day today in our home, we lost the little tortie girl of Fe's and Phoenix. We thought it might happen as the poor little one had been struggling but we hoped with all our hearts that it wouldn't.

Andy is helping Fe out with bottle feeding because this is her first litter and she had so many babies. But poor little tortie, our Georgina II just wasn't growing and she didn't want the milk from Fe or the bottle. I feel so very sad for Fe.

We have had a very mixed couple of weeks with the arrivals of Ariana's and Galina's and they both came with sadness and then Fe's little ones arrived on our Anniversary only for us to have more sadness today.

So it is times like these when breeding is so very hard, the only comfort we have is that Kahlan will look after our little tortie Georgina II, Galina's and Ariana's little ones and altogether they will play in the stars. Night Night my sweet angels xxx

(I have also at the beginning of the week hurt my shoulder and back, so I apologise if I have been slow in replying to emails as I am limited on how long I can spend on the laptop.)

Anniversary Present! New Arrivals!

Today is our 8th Wedding Anniversary and we had a lovely gift from Fe of 8 babies. One for each year married.

The babies arrived during the night, Fe did it all by herself and we are so very proud of her. Well done Fe, you are a star!

Phoenix is the Dad and we are so excited to see his beautiful babies with Fe arrive. We are yet to confirm but on first look it looks like we have had 4 of each, mixture of Reds, Tortie, Silver and Browns, with and without white! Way to go Phoenix and Fe!

So over the next few weeks we are going to be very busy here with our bundles of joy as we also had new arrivals on Sunday from Galina and Cimus. After a difficult first baby, Galina went on to have 7 beautiful Siberian babies. We think we have 5 girls and 2 boys, with a mixture of Silvers and Browns. Well done Galina and Cimus you are Stars!

All we can say is thank goodness that's all the babies for now as I think the girls were competing for the biggest litter, so we have a few more than expected. But no worries plenty of love, cuddles and kisses to go around xxxx

New Arrivals & Gemini Babies

We are proud to announce the arrival of our first end of Summer babies. Sweet Ariana gave birth to 6 beautiful Siberian babies on Wednesday. We think we have 4 boys and 2 girls, and a mixture of browns, silvers and possibly a blue silver. We have some gorgeous Classic patterns with and without white. One of the kittens has white blaze on their nose just like their Dad Phoenix and the two girls have white tips to their tails just like their Mum Ariana. I love the white tail tips they look so very cute when they are all fluffy and held high in true Siberian fashion.

Phoenix is the proud Dad again, well done to both Ariana and Phoenix you make us very proud. This makes Anuta and Willow Great Grandmothers! You wouldn't think it the way the two of them charge about playing!

Gemini's babies are at that we can run around like crazy kittens forever and never tire out stage!!! Everything and anything can be used for playing with or playing in. It is a pleasure to watch and much better than TV. We tried to get some photos the other night but after 45mins of the 3 of them just messing about we abandoned it and Andy has some ideas on how we can take some over the weekend!

At the moment Akiro has been adopted but his two gorgeous siblings are looking for their forever homes, both are available as pet. And they will make a wonderful addition to any home. I am going to be very sad when they fly the nest...

Gemini, Akiro, Apollo and Georgina playing

A couple of new movies of the little ones and Gemini playing tonight. We even have Apollo tonight when we took the movies last time Apollo was fast asleep.

The bubbas seem to be growing everytime I see them now!

Alexandrite Akiro & Alexandrite Georgina & Feather Toy!

Another one of Alexandrite Akiro playing with the feather stick, this time his sister Georgina is trying to play too, but he isn't sharing. The feather toy is his! Then he does let her have a little bit of a go and then it is all his again. As you can see near the end there is no way he is going to let go!

Georgina looks so cute waiting patiently for a turn. Georgina reminds me so much of Gemini and Boo Boo as kittens, you can really see the family resemblance. I love her little white front feet, they are so cute.

You can hear Gemini purring in the background and Andy was trying to keep the camera still because she kept nudging him!

(Video @ 7 weeks old)

Alexandrite Akiro and Feather Toy!

Alexandrite Akiro playing with the feather toy, he was definitely not letting go! Gemini came into see what he was doing, but he didn't let his mum distract him from the task in hand even though she was talking away to him. The feather toy now looks very sorry for itself!

You can also hear Alexandrite Georgina in the background shouting for her mum, she likes to do that and Gemini always finds her to see if she is okay. Georgina then gets a wash!

New Website Launched

Last week I decided to have a go at building our new Website, technically my expertise lays in Database Development and Administration (the day job) so to do a Website is completely different for me. I have during the 16 years in IT (gosh that scares me!) worked on Internal Applications but not worked on a customer facing website. So this is outside my comfort zone, but with the thumbs up of family and friends here it is....

Hope everyone likes the new format, it isn't finished yet and I will be filling in the blanks as the weeks go on and apologies for any gaffs or mis-spells.

The existing website Silver Siberian Cats will remain and when I have finished updating the new one it is going to have a tidy up.

IW SGC Cooncreole Paavo

Paavo was bathed yesterday and we took some photos of him today as they need a photo of him for his International Win with TICA. He hasn't his full winter coat, it is definitely a summer one, but I think he looks very handsome!

Congratulations Paavo on your win, we are so proud of you, our big Love Bug!

Gemini & Phoenix babies - Introducing Alexandrite Akiro

What can I say other than we have been blown away by this litter!

Gemini and Phoenix had 3 beautiful Siberian babies at the end of June, they had a Seal Lynx (Tabby) Point with White boy, a Blue Lynx (Tabby) Point with White boy and a Brown Tortie (Tabby) and White girl. Gemini and Phoenix definitely knew what they were doing when they gave us these beautiful Siberian kittens.

At the moment I am just registering interest in these kittens as we are still looking for forever homes for Drusilla's girls.

Introducing:- Alexandrite Akiro a Seal Lynx (Tabby) Point with White and "Knock Me Over" handsome! Sorry for the photo overload, but he just loved being in front of the camera and those looks of his definitely deserve it. I just love this boy and he has our trademark "Grumpy" look but devilishly handsome too. I really want to show this boy and am so excited to see how he matures.

Our first Lynx points and tortie, and what a way to do it! Gemini and Phoenix you make us so very proud x

Alexandrite Akiro @ 6 weeks
