Alexandrite Mercury

Marina sent me some photos of Mercury aka Hermes and I wanted to share them with everyone and this is how I want to rememember him.

The first one was taken about a month ago, we think he looks so like his dad Mishka and the second one with Danae of him playing in the garden was taken just 3 days before he sadly passed away...

Marina has created a web page about Mercury and here is a link to it, read his lovely story and how he was a such a big personality.

In Loving Memory of Alexandrite Calix and Alexandrite Mercury

It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that I write this blog and it is one I wish I didn't have to do.

At the beginning of February we had the very sad news from the people who had adopted Calix's aka Meka that in a very tragic accident w
here he had got caught up in the blind cord and had unfortunately passed away. This was a great shock to us all as Calix was only just 4 months old and had his whole life ahead of him. Kittens get up to all types of trouble but I would like for anyone who is thinking of getting a kitten to be careful with blind cords and if you do have blinds, tie the cord up if you can.

All we can do now is remember Calix as he was as a kitten growing up, always up to mischief but looking so handsome at all times. His life was short but he had so much love in that short time.
Here are a few words from Chris and John, and we really think this is how he should be remembered
He is certainly feeling his feet now and has us both wrapped around his little "paw". He is turning into a beautiful little kitten and has stolen our hearts. He sleeps on my pillow most nights and has also taken to laying with the dog (as you can see from the photo). As I am typing this email he is sat at the side of me watching my fingers on the keyboard. He is a little darling. I have never heard a cat purr so much as he does and he loves lots of strokes and cuddles.
Some photos of Calix

On Friday we had the awful news that Mercury aka Hermes had been involved in a road traffic accident and he had passed away. This was another shock for us as Mercury had just reached a year old. None of us can believe it has happened, he was such a character in his new home from the stories Marina told us he got up too.

A few words from Marina
Most of all we miss his cheerful greeting chirp and all his accounts of his heroics and antics he used to ‘tell us’ when he was coming home, running for a cuddle.
A photo of Mercury

Both these boys were so sweet and loved by all who met them. Even though they had very short times with us all, they were spoilt rotten and added so much to each of our lives.

I am sure they are both with Kahlan and Dizzee now, playing and up to mischief and watching over us. We will meet again, watch over us and you are both so deeply and trully missed.

Night, night sweet Mercury and Calix xxxx

Sometimes it is very hard...

Very sad day today in our home, we lost the little tortie girl of Fe's and Phoenix. We thought it might happen as the poor little one had been struggling but we hoped with all our hearts that it wouldn't.

Andy is helping Fe out with bottle feeding because this is her first litter and she had so many babies. But poor little tortie, our Georgina II just wasn't growing and she didn't want the milk from Fe or the bottle. I feel so very sad for Fe.

We have had a very mixed couple of weeks with the arrivals of Ariana's and Galina's and they both came with sadness and then Fe's little ones arrived on our Anniversary only for us to have more sadness today.

So it is times like these when breeding is so very hard, the only comfort we have is that Kahlan will look after our little tortie Georgina II, Galina's and Ariana's little ones and altogether they will play in the stars. Night Night my sweet angels xxx

(I have also at the beginning of the week hurt my shoulder and back, so I apologise if I have been slow in replying to emails as I am limited on how long I can spend on the laptop.)

Sad News about Alexandrite Jove

We had some very sad news this week, Alexandrite Jove was in a road accident and the vet tried to save him but they couldn't, he has now gone to play with Kahlan and Dizzee. Jove was a loveable rascal and I am sure he will be being a little rascal now with Kahlan and Dizzee.

Little Jove had gone to live with Su and Alex and another of our kittens Alexandrite Genevieve, we are so sorry for their loss but they gave him the best life and love they could, thank you.

For us as breeders there is always the dilemma to let the kittens go to new homes and then for them to be allowed out. We leave this decision to the people who adopt our kittens. Why do we do this? Because when we first got our loveable Fudge and Kahlan no restrictions were put on us whether we allowed them out or not. At the time we had had a lot of cats in the area going missing for what we believed was for the fur trade, shocking but true. So we made the decision to keep them in and we then added an outside pen and secured the garden. They loved the outside space and I am sure Fudge still misses his favourite conifer that he would sit beside for hours on end. Now that we have the Sibies, we of course can't let them out being entire boys and girls. Gosh I dread to think what sort of mess we would be in then, Cimus would definitely rule the neighbourhood! So our family have outside pens/space and they do love it, but a lot of our Siberians go to homes without outside space and they are very happy. Siberians are very adaptable so as long as they are loved an outside or indoor life is fine for them.

So with a great deal of sadness we say kisses and hugs to you Jove, thank you for being a rascal and giving us all a lot of love xxx
